The Scientific Committee

Definition:

The Scientific Committee serves as a vital component of the college, focusing on promoting and maintaining high standards of scientific courses inquiry and students researches within the medical field. It looks after organization of theoretical and clinical activities such as lectures, seminars, small group discussion, skill labs, bed side teaching, team-based learning, scientific meetings, workshops, student's research projects and coordinating between different courses .So, The Committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the scientific landscape at the College of Medicine, contributing to the institution's reputation for excellence in scientific endeavors.

Mission:

The mission of the Scientific Committee is to foster a culture of excellence in scientific endeavors, assist the college in enhancing its academic program and contributing to advancements in medical knowledge and practice according to national and international quality standards.

Vision: 

 To establish a distinguished and qualified curriculum and make the college to represent cutting-edge center of scientific medical education.

Goals: 

  1. Ensure quality and continuous update of the curriculum plan and activities according to the adopted learning model.
  2. Guide the learning outcomes with suitable designed activities based on inputs gathered from stakeholders.
  3. Review, monitor and continuously improve the study plan and curriculum in line with program mission and goals.
  4. Consider integrity, fairness, and equality in all its academic practices between the male and female student sections.
  5. Review and approval of course specification (CS) and course appendix (CA) to ascertain that the course preparation process complies with the NCAAA CS form and Saudi MEDs framework requirements and medical education standards to ensure that:
  • courses and appendix are aligned with program specs,
  • Learning outcomes in the courses are aligned with the program learning outcomes.
  • Teaching and learning strategies and assessment methods are aligned with the intended learning outcomes at the program and course levels.
  • All of implemented procedures are following University guide for designing and developing academic program.
  1. Review and approval of course report (CR) to ensure its compliance with the NCAAA CR form and reveals error free data. All of implemented procedures are following University guide for designing and developing academic program and  to verifies the accuracy of the CR completion before its approval and ensure that the courses are periodically evaluated for ensuring the effectiveness of the teaching and learning strategies and assessment methods.
  2. Facilitate collaboration:  Foster collaborations among faculty's courses, members, and students to promote interdisciplinary procedures.
  3. Writing the periodic reports on the follow up of learning process and informing the concerned departments and committees about the result o ensure improvement. 
  4. Continuous improvement: Provide recommendations for improving the quality of scientific courses and programs, keeping abreast of advancements in medical education and research
