TU research chair contributed to the publication of 17 scientific papers on the development of Taif roses

TU Chair of Research and Development Studies of Taif Roses plans to establish a research group entitled "Modern Techniques for Improving the Growth of Taif Roses and Production of Oil and Other Products.” The goal of this research group is to advance Saudi industrial products to a global level in the growth and production of Taif roses.

Dr. Al-Yassi, in charge of the research chair, explained that the chair aims to develop the processes of extraction of rose oils by various methods, conduct development research on the products of Taif roses, hold workshops and seminars on extracting oil by modern methods, conduct research to develop new strains of greater oils and longer in flower production, and to protect roses from microbial, parasitic and insect diseases. The Chair currently works to enhance its role in community service by organizing seminars and workshops related to the industry of Taif roses, and educating TU students, faculty, and other parties interested in this area to develop their skills. Dr. Al-Yassi pointed out that the chair has recently organized a series of seminars, lectures and field trips with the aim of introducing people to Taif roses, how to extract rose oils, and how to protect Taif roses from diseases and pests.

Dr. Al-Yassi pointed that the chair contributed to the funding and implementing 17 research papers published in refereed journals, all with the goal of improving the cultivation of Taif roses and improving their products. Other contributions of note include the publication of 10 booklets and scientific brochures on viral and nematode diseases, rose pests, agricultural pesticides, and methods of dealing with them.
