Some students from the College of Engineering have participated in various architectural and engineering studies for the both historic palaces Shubra and Jabra, under the supervision of a group of college professors, and in cooperation with Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH).

The studies include developing the area surrounding the palaces, performing detailed structural studies, analyzing the current situation of energy efficiency and traffic. They also aim to preserve the historical value of the both palaces and open them to visitors in order to stimulate the movement of domestic tourism.

It is noteworthy that the engineering studies of the both historic palaces are part of the (a gesture) initiative aimed to support efforts of preserving historical and heritage buildings in Taif Governorate.
