The Governor of Makkah Region agrees to holding the Abdullah Al-Faisal Award Ceremony at the beginning of next Muharram

HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prince of Makkah Region, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arabic Poetry Academy, has agreed to holding the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal International Poetry Award ceremony in early Muharram, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.

This came during the ninth meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Arabic Poetry Academy at Taif University, which HRH presided, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Culture Hamid bin Muhammad Fayez, and members of the Council.

The Chairman of the Academy's Board of Trustees expressed his appreciation of the achievements of the Academy in its first year, praising the status report of the Year 2018.

TU Acting President, and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Academy, Dr. Saad Al-Zahrani, welcomed the participation of the Ministry of Culture represented by Deputy Minister at the meeting. Dr. Al-Zahrani expressed his thanks and appreciation on behalf of the Board members to the Chairman of the Evaluation of Education and Training, former Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Academy, Dr. Husam Zaman, for his efforts to establish the Academy during his tenure as Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

The Council discussed a number of topics on its agenda, most notably the Arab Poetry Academy's partnership with the Ministry of Culture, which included supporting the Academy's poetry and music programs.

During the meeting, the Board of Trustees also discussed the proposal of the Arabic Poetry Academy at Taif University to develop the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal International Prize for Arabic Poetry in its new year, and its new branch for Saudi college and high school students.

The winners of the first edition of the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal International for Arabic Poetry Prize were Muhammad Abdullah Abdul Bari from Sudan for standard Arabic poetry (SAR500,000), Fawzi Khader from Egypt for dramatic poetry (SAR300,000), and Karim Laibi from Iraq for lyrical poetry (SAR200,000).
