TU establishes the first Girl Scouts with 48 members to volunteer in Hajj and Umrah seasons

Taif University announced the establishment of the first Girl Scouts in the university, which includes 48 students who showcased their first presentation in the presence of TU President Dr. Husam Zaman. On this occasion, TU launched an induction tent about Girl Scouts where members gave the Scout Salute and Scout Promise in the presence of TU President, Vice Presidents, and a number of staff. TU President was briefed about the tenets of the Scout Movement and the initial skills the team members were trained in.

TU Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Bandar Al-Bugami said that the establishment of the Girl Scouts is part of TU’s drive to actualize Saudi Vision 2030, one of whose most important aspects is empowering Saudi women and giving them full opportunity in all fields. Dr. Al-Bugami stressed the important role of scouts in serving pilgrims in the Hajj and Umrah seasons, to fulfill the university’s religious, national and social duty. Dr. Al-Bugami said the scouts will guide lost pilgrims, care for missing children, and provide all necessary logistic services, especially for elderly female pilgrims.

Vice Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Amal Ashour explained that the students were involved in organizing events held at TU, the most recent being the closing ceremony of student activities organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs last week. Dr. Ashour said that the field uniform was designed for TU female students in accordance with the principles of Islamic law and the customs of Saudi society. She also pointed out that work is afoot to prepare the headquarters of the scout camp in the female section.
