The research project aims to study the biodiversity of some important medicinal plants such as (mint, basil, shea, basil, and al-Ashar) grown at high altitudes (Taif and Ranieh governorates). Then, chia seed grinds from these locations will be evaluated as a food additive to determine their nutritional value from these regions. Also, the chemical composition of these plants (ethanolic and aqueous extracts of the leaves) will be studied to identify phenols, flavonoids, tannins and alkaloids. Furthermore, these extracts will be evaluated against certain pathogenic bacteria. Also, it will be evaluated against important plant pests such as plant-parasitic nematodes, insects and especially aphids.
