In a lecture at Taif university given by  Dr. Fahad Al-Majed

In a lecture entitled “How the Council of Senior Scholars Deals with Intellectual Currents,” His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars, Dr. Fahad Al-Majid, explained that moderation and tolerance are among the principles of Islam, its noble purposes and just rulings, and that it is these ideals the Council of Senior Scholars strives to promote in accordance with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness the Crown Prince.

The lecture was attended by TU Acting President, Prof. Saad Al-Zahrani, and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Development, Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Asmari, and TU students. His Excellency spoke about the fundamental principles upheld by the Council regarding such issues as politically motivated religious movements, suicide bombings, and the pledge of allegiance in Islam.

Dr. Misfer Al-Malki, Supervisor of TU Unit of Moderation and intellectual Security, highlighted the importance of organizing such constructive and important meetings to promote moderation, noting that the university is keen to raise the awareness of its students and staff against extremism and aberrant intellectual movements.
