HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Honors the winners of the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal International Prize for Arabic Poetry

HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of Makkah Region and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arabic Poetry Academy, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, honored the three poets who won the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal International Prize for Arabic Poetry in its first edition.

In a speech attended by a number of princes and about 400 intellectuals from inside and outside the Kingdom, Prince Khalid congratulated the winners and expressed his appreciation to the Arabic Poetry Academy.

Then Prince Khalid paid tribute to HRH Prince Muhammad Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, may he rest in peace, and honored Sheikha Dr. Suad Al-Sabah, Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatani, and Ahmad Eid for their contributions to documenting the experience of Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal’s poetry through a number of studies and publications.

During the ceremony, His Highness handed over the prizes to the winners of the Arabic poetry, dramatic poetry, and lyrical poetry prizes. The winners were the Sudanese Muhammad Abdullah Abdul Bari for standard Arabic poetry (SAR 500,000), the Egyptian Fawzi Mahmoud Khidr for dramatic poetry (SAR 300,000), the Iraqi Karim Odeh Luaibi for lyrical poetry (SAR 200,000).

At the end, HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal launched a 750-page report on the current status of Arabic poetry covering the entire Arab world and presented it to the Arab Library.
