History of the College

College History and Background

To keep pace with the educational revolution adopted by the Kingdom, to meet the needs of the community, to found new colleges in various parts of the Kingdom and to initiate new disciplines  as well as curricula for colleges, with under supervision and guidance of  the university’ rector support and guidance, this faculty started its work at the beginning of the first semester of the year (1426-1427) after issuing government approval under resolution No. m/5640 dated 22/4/1426 to be established in Taif University aiming to provide the Kingdom with qualified administrative cadre to lead businesses, financial as well as industrial organizations and service sectors. In addition, it is to found other specialized faculties aiming to graduate qualified  specialists who master the modern tools of communication and different languages along with qualitative skills. So the establishment of the college is also to meet the requirements of future education where the college will offer cutting-edge courses and programs fitting the local and global changes and challenges. The total number who enrolled the college was 117 students in its first semester. The number of faculty members did not exceed four in both male and female campuses. Five years later, the faculty members increased over 135 with six academic departments and the college campus moved to its current location - in Hawiyah.

 

Undergraduate level duration is four years divided into eight semesters in each one of the following majors: Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Management Information Systems, Finance, Insurance, Economics and Project Management. Due to the keenness to match the recent development, the faculty offers MA in Executive MBA, MA in professional MBA program in Accounting, and it has been in the lead to develop the BA study plans for all programs.

The College also has succeeded in attracting and recruiting distinguished faculty members to achieve the university's goal. It has attracted many local, Arab and foreign staff to support the faculty status and rank. It should be noted that those achievements would not have been achieved without the grace of God first, and then the ongoing support by the Rector Prof. Dr. Abdul Alelah bin Abdul Aziz Banaja.

The College has also obtained the ISO 9001/2008, and established Quality and Accreditation Unit to study the necessary steps to be qualified for achieving the membership of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Subscribing to the Association, the unit started to follow the steps as a process to gain the national accreditation and the international accreditation.
