The Department of Pharmacology, toxicology and forensic medicine is one of medical science departments that form part of the University's Medical Sciences Division and focusing on basic life sciences and clinical research, undergraduate teaching for medicine and biomedical sciences students. Its goal is to conduct research in pharmacology, forensic medicine and poisons, and to work on building research infrastructure in the field of medicine, forensic medicine and toxicology by establishing a specialized research laboratory. The department is interactive with collaboration with different hospitals and medical centers in the Western region of KSA.
Pharmacology is participating in generation and communication of insights in in vivo ADME processes (absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion). Toxicology is studying drug genotoxicity, molecular and cellular toxic effects while forensic medicine is a multidisciplinary subject, which is used for the scientific assessment of DNA, blood samples, bones and so on.
